http://www.bridesmagazine.co.uk/

Navagation

' Page 1: Remember Oscar '
The image is clearly labed and gives a clue that the certain topic is aimed at to those who are looking for a wedding dress.
The navigation on this certain image is ' In Fashion '.
When you click on the link you do get directed to the certain area you want to view.

 'Page 2: Top Trends'
The image gives the reader an insight on where to look for the certain relevent subject you want to go.
The navigation of this is that is says the 'Top Trends' are ' In blog' and has a link to click to take you to the blog to view the top trends.
Once clicking onto the link you do get directed to the certain topic you do want to go to.

  'Page 3: The Little Things'
This image is of 'little things' which make up the whole wedding which will be important to the readers.
The image clearly shows wedding invites and table numbers which are needed for the wedding.
Therefore the navigation for this is made simple and less time consuming since the designer of the website has put a clear and easy access to the certain part of the site you'd want in ' In blog'.

'Page 4: Gothic Angel'

Navigation is simple and easy in all images of the slideshow since there is links in the same place of each. However the images are all completly different from eachother which is important for each navigation.
The ' Gothic Angel in Fashion . This navagates the reader to the image where they want a wedding dress similar to the model in the photo, unlike having a traditional wedding dress like page 1.

Page 5: Vera Wang'
This is aimed at those women who want a wedding dress designed by the designer Vera Wang.
Also the navigation is important since all 3 of these wedding dresses slides are 'In Fashion' they narrow the slide navigations narrow it down to style.

'Page 6: Honeymoon Guide'
Completely different to all the other slides since with a wedding will come a honeymoon, worthy of a slide.
The simple and and quick navigation to something important and may take someone long to research and find.
'Honeymoon Guide In Blog' is a direct link to the page you'd want to visit.

Animated Graphics

There isn't many animated graphics on http://www.bridesmagazine.co.uk/
The bridal magazine ive chosen has to advertise is 'Vogue' which is a designer wedding brand, which features photos of famous celebrities in wedding dresses/bridal dresses.
The animated graphics of this certain photo is blinking, it flashes on and off to try and grab the readers attention to download and read.

The slides are paced 5 seconds apart so the reader can read and has an insight of what the magazine has install to read.
The image which is included at the bottom of the website features Taylor Swift, with bold letters ' VOGUE ' on her forehead has an animation of also a blinking on and off screen effect which then switches to the other ' Vogue ' image at the top of the screen. Yet again, the blinking emotion of this animation on the image and the celebrity endorsement is to catch the readers attention to click on the ad so the bridal website can get money.

Overall Layout

The overall layout of the homepage is very narrow and needs more space to spread alot of things out since the page is very crowded.
The center of the magazine homepage is very confusing to look at since there is a vertical row of different articles, althought the certain articles do provide a little infomation.
It makes the whole page look messy and out of place.
The navigation bar under the title is clear and easy to navigate and access certain parts of the page.
There is alot of images which floods the page.

Fonts and colour of interactivity.

There is no special fonts, But the use of interactivity is used in colour which is in the colour pink because the website is aimed at females.
Theres also a use of orange on subtitles which is also a pastal orange which is also very girly and eyecatching to read and click on.

Word count : 706 words.

Navigation

There is easy navigation of this site with its navigation bar.
This is a typical man site with headings of pages which men would find interesting.
Also there is box headings which can direct you onto 'featured' navigations to click on which may be popular/interesting.
Once you click on the subheading of titles, the titles change from block capitals to orange block capitals.
This may be more eyecatching for the male eyes, and may help them remember which site they were using in the future.

Animated Graphics

The animated graphics on this website is of two advertisments of freederm spot cleansing products.

The animations are a moving duck which is gliding along the icecaps, and there is a caption of ' What makes you feel free?' and then changes to an advertisment of ' Freederm gel '
The animations are of cartoons and i wouldn't think is appropriate for an older male site.
Although the animated graphics don't seem the age range for the site, it may appeal to dads to buy it for their sons or maybe themselves if they do have breakout of spots.
It's also a good animation to promote the brand along with social media which alot of young males will have on their smartphones/tablets.
This animation requires twitter to hashtag.
This site would improve if it did have more animations of their own or videos

Overall Layout

The overall layout in my opinion is very basic and simple and really easy to access certain areas of the site which can be good.
However i don't find the site appealing or eyecatching.
The articles on the site seem very random in some areas, but then some of the articles are very related like ' Bromance ' which is a slang teen word for ' man love ' but in a joke way.
However this word is used amoungst most teenagers, some young adult men also use the word as joke for a  laugh with their mates.
The page is very narrow and dont allow much space for things, so therefore everything looks very vertical and messy since the articles are very close together on one page.

Use of colour

The title is in orange and the rest of the writing is in either a plain black or a block black typed style.
The background is a plain white which isn't very eyecatching.
It makes the website look plain and boring and empty.
The adverisments have alot of blue in them as it features alot of the sky, it's the only thing which makes the website look appealing and slightly eyecatching.
The colour quality of the photos and pictures they've used are very eyecatching, mostly dark images but they're clear to see and easy to understand without needing to read the title.

Fonts and interactivity

There is fonts used on this website of 'block letters'
which may be appealing to the male eye, and once you hover over the block letters they change to the colour orange,
There is a few uses of italics under the title of ' It's great to be a man' this may interact with the males as to feel superior and interested about the site as it makes them feel good about themselves.

Print magazines Pros and cons

Pros and Cons of print magazines

Pro's

-Taken more seriously by sources.
Printed sources seem to be more reliable since if its been printed and published people will feel as if the co-editer has read over and thought it was reliable enough to print, therefore it must be more honest and true.
It's beneficial for the reader since you dont have to stare at a computer screen for ages blurring your eyes, when you can read the magazine in your own time and no eyestraining or the phone screen blacking out after the set amount of time.

- It's portable
You can carry the magazine wherever you go in a bag.
You can also take them to places where you may get bored and need to kill some time, eg. Waiting at a doctors appointment.
It's benefical for the readers since they can keep them for a long time in their homes for guests to read or for coffee shops to leave on tables for customers to read while waiting.
It's benefical for the company who produced the magazine since people may feel more willing to buy the magazine if they know they're going to have a long wait for doctors appointments/hospital/long train rides etc..

- Print publications don’t have software that crashes.
Print magazines wouldn't have any technical problems after being printed, unlike a digital magazine, once published it may experiance crashing and software problems which isnt great for anyone especially the company since they'll have a loss of money.
The benefical aspect of having a print magazine the magazine is present and readable without any faults.
This benefits the reader since they don't loose out on their magazine and also benefical for the company since they get money for the purchase.

-Print is superior to online when the online publication is unable to reach their target audience due to them not being online.
Once the print magazine is bought then the company who produced the magazine gets the money.
However an online magazine need those subscribers to view their articles to get money.
This this is benefits the print magazine since they get their money they need.

- Don’t have to wait for an article to download
Print magazines would save alot more time for the readers since they can just read them upfront since the magazine is present and infront of them without any technical attachments.
This is also benefical for the company who print the magazines since they can get their money easily unlike a digital magazine if they dont get their subscriptions due to slow downloads, people may not use their magazine.

Cons

-Online publications can have up to 20 million visitors because it is free and reaches everyone. Print depends on subscriptions, therefore reaching far less customers.
Digital magazines are free unlike a magazine in a shop where you'd have to pay an amount between £1-4 for a magazine. Therefore it'd seem more cheaper for the readers to go online and read infomation.

The life-span of any specific print medium is restricted. Newspapers for instance, are amongst the public eye just for a day and magazines for a few days/weeks.
The online magazine's don't have a long life span either so therefore there is no benefit for print or digital magazines.
However the print magazines are costly therefore more maybe on the shelf left untouched and will get thrown away after time.

- Error's in print are forever
If there's a mistake which is printed in a magazine, its thereforever.
This isn't good for the company since people may find it unprofessional and may not feel as if the writer is as good as his job if there is a badly mistaked word. Or the co-editor don't check over the article as carefully as they should.
Digital magazines can edit their articles and also have softwares which can detect any spelling mistakes.

Pros and cons list digital

Digital Magazines

Pro's

- Much cheaper than printing
The benefits of this is that the company don't have to invest as much money into the producing since its online.
Easier to access for the reader aswell. The reader doesn't have to leave their home to go out and purchase the magazine since it's already online.
Easier for the publisher&designer since he will have access to change anything about the article online unlike a printed magazine.

- Eco friendly
Since the article is online there will be no waste which will reduce the amount of litter. (magazine pages)
eg- Dropped in the streets.
This benefits the reader's since they wont have as much litter distrubuted around the towns/city. And also benefits animals and the public of the area.
Benefits the Designer and publisher since people will see online magazines as a more Eco friendly option and will give the online magazine a good name for it's company.

- Email directly sent to your audience.

People can 'sign up' to these online magazines and get emailed with links to the new pulished magazine each month/week (however long) automaticly.
This benefits the publisher&designer since people will get a direct link and will click on it which means they'll get money to fund for the site and to fund the designer & photographer for the images and the infomation.
This benefits the reader's since they don't have to spend time searching online to find the site, or if they forget the name they have straight access to the site through email.

- Easy to access
Most of these sites have a basic layout which is easy for the reader to search and find which relevant subject they want to search. For example 'Closer Online' is a womans gossip & lifestyle online magazine.
The easy access to the infomation with the search bar, benefits the publisher and the designer because if it's easy to access, Woman who read this magazine are more likely to come back to the site and use it again which means more money for the buisness.

- High brand exposure potential throughout

The frequent use of showing a full size and good quality on each page is good buisness for the Publisher since it's money based for the company if someone clicks the link or 'signs up' for the certain add.
It also can benefit the readers, although some may hate ad pop ups or on the side of the page, some may come across something interesting and may benefit them.
It also does benefit the designer since he can place the certain ad's on certain relevant pages and has full control over what goes where and what seems usable to get the online magazine more money.

- Quality of the print and photographs
The quality of photographs on online magazines is much more high in quality than photographs which are printed on glossy paper in an actual magazine.
This can be benefical to the publisher since they have actual good HD photos of something which many people may want to see.
Benefits the designer aswell, since he can choose which photo is best and which posistion the photo should go in.
This is a benefit for the readers since they can get the full HD image in great quality.

- App's & Social media
Research say's 7/10 people in the UK own a smart phone which provides apps and easy access to social media. It seems as if electronic media is replacing the printed word.
Online magazines offer a 'Download our app' option.
Many people are using app's and social media which would mean an online magazine may be more relevant to their daily life.
This is helpful for the publisher since they can get people to 'like and share with friends' which means more publicity and more money.

Easy to make
Making an online magazine is alot easier and less time consuming than an actual paper magazine.
This benefits the publisher and the designer since if its easy to produce then the easier it'll be to access and gain money.
It benefits the designer since it is more simple since he'll be provided layouts to edit. Which is easier than sitting down and drawing out loads of templates as if it's a normal magazine and how many pages they'll need and sizes of images.

Cons Digital

- Hacking into profiles and posting as them.
Easy to cyberbully and post mean and harmful things on someone elses account.
Isn't good for the publisher and the company since the police can possibly get involved and cause drama.

- If your profile isn't private people can find out personal infomation about you.
Stalking can become an issue and private infomation such as Emails,Address and phone number can get out and people can start stalking and sending you mail/cyberbullying.

- Can be hard to read
Those with bad eyesight may need to Zoom in or zoom out if the text is either to large or to small.
This isnt convient to those with bad eyesight and wouldn't be great for the business as those who have to either zoom in our out may not want to sign up to the magazines as they might get bored of having to constantly zooming in or out, which means a loss of money for the business.

- Short shelf life.

The online magazine will only have certain articles for a limited amount of times, and the only way to see past atricles is to pay for a subscription. However this is a benefit for the company, its not so much a beneficial aspect for the readers since they may not want to pay just to see past atricles when they could just buy a magazine and keep it for however long they want to.

- Advertisers

You have to make money by getting secure advertisers, which costs. So you'd need to get people to know what brand of magazine it is, the style, the target audience and the genere.
Also having to make profit not just from advertising but from getting donations or any type of money possible if its a free magazine,
