Task 1-c

Application: Film Trailer.

Example – include link or visual example to illustrate: Captain America.

Analysis – how has is been used? How effective is it for audiences (benefits)?

Captain America has been used effectively to engage the target audience of men aged 15-25. The use of Marvel logo pops up which is stereotypically more appealing to young males. Also the film is based on the main character that want’s to go to war. The trailer uses a good pace of editing of slow motion in certain scenes to enhance the audience’s reaction. The mood of the trailer is enhanced by the funky music, which is edited to fit the pace of the trailer, when Captain American is transformed. Special key and scenes have been highlighted throughout to attract a wider audience. Digital effects can be seen with ‘Heroes are made in America’ to align with conventional blockbuster trailers, that audience will expect to see.

Application: Short Film.
Example: The snowman 1982

Analysis:
The snowman has been used effectively to engage their target audience of young children around Christmas time with the story line, however some older ages of male and females do yearly watch this film. The film is based on the main characters a young boy who does not have a name and a snowman which the young built in his garden who takes him on a flying adventure before Christmas morning.
This short film does not have advanced editing since it is a creation of drawings and animations; there are no special effects, which makes the film pure and easy to watch.
There is no speaking throughout the whole film. There is classical music playing along to the film, the sound is matched with high-pitched noises and low pitched and a constant light beat to match any scenario throughout the film. The effect of no voice overs or speaking is effective for the target audience since it’s easier for children to understand with their eyes and not their ears by getting confused with words they may not understand.

Example: Drugstore beauty spree | Zoella

Analysis:
Zoella ( Zoe Sugg ) is a worldwide famous YouTube star. Her videos are beauty based and she reaches out to her audience who are girls from ages 11-18
The use of her sitting down just freely talking the camera is effective as she can engage easier without acting awkward like some other youtuber’s who find talking to the camera awkward, she can make her audience feel comfortable watching her and her videos.
She does add a little sound in the background in the background of a plain faint beat which you hardly hear but is comforting when she stops talking or pauses for a long time.
Her videos do not have many special effects but she does do cut away’s and when she show’s a product to the camera she focus’s the camera onto the product and blurred the background. Her camera does also focus on her and blurs and background slightly.

Application: Viral Marketing.


Analysis:
Boohoo.com is a popular clothing store online which is a store which is directly aimed at females of ages 14-30+ with clothes with sizes from 6-14 mainly but have a plus size section.
There is a men’s option on the website but isn’t purchased as much as the women’s.
Boohoo’s Christmas advert is aimed at mainly Women since they feature multiple females in the brands party wear.
However it does also aim at males but not so much since they feature a male for 2 seconds wearing male’s party wear.
This is effective since those who watch this advert who haven’t heard of boohoo before can realize that it’s a female site with an addition of male clothing.

Analysis:
This Flash banner on a website.
This is useful for those who are interested in computers and software’s
However this was posted on a women’s gossip magazine site, although some women do like technical computer software programs, the majority of women would let men do the installation or anything technical. The colour of a lime green although a unisex colour men are more attracted to darker colour than women are.

Analysis:

Virtual reality headsets have been effectively aimed at the target audience of gamers of all ages mainly at males but also purchased by a large amount of women.
These headsets are mainly used for horror games more than any other genre.
The effect of seeing the game before your eyes really enhances the gamers experience with the game.

Analysis: Grand theft auto has been used effectively to engage the target audience of 13-19 year old males who have an interest in gaming and violent games.
The use of the ‘R’ which represents Rockstar games which is eyecatching for their target audience of males since they would know Rockstar are famous for their brand of GTA games.
Throughout the Trailer there are many many special effects such as pop ups of ‘Rockstar presents GTA5’ Close up of the main characters face and shots from behind.

Analysis:
Bbc Bitesize is a E-learning site since its only focus is to aim kids of ages 7-16 who are in school and for those in College-University in a different area.
There is no gender target audience however the website does feature some games which can be aimed at different genders


There isn’t mainly any special effects on the website as it seems very ‘old fashioned book base styled’ however the digital games feature some effects and sounds to keep the children interested.

Application: Email Attachments

Example: Wowcher. 



Analysis:
You can sign up for Wowcher and receive multiple emails per day about discounts in your area on certain things you said you like when signing up.
For example all my emails seem to be beauty therapy or beauty product based.
Wowcher is mainly targeted at girls since they frequently use the colour of pink.
The effectiveness of these emails is that people such as coupon collectors love discounts and good opportunities for little money.

This is beneficial to those who sign up for these emails as they don’t have to search for these opportunities themselves and get a direct link on what they’re interested in.

Example: DVD's Frozen













Analysis:
Frozen by Disney has a DVD menu of a giant snowflake with a close up image of all the characters one by one which is targeted at young children from ages 2-13 however is also seen as a family sit down film.
The DVD menu has options from ‘Play’ ‘Bonus features’ ‘Scene selection’ ‘Set up’ and ‘ Sneak peaks ‘.
Frozen is the most popular film of 2013 and 2014 with a prediction of 2/5 families buying Frozen merchandise for 2014’s Christmas.
3.2 million Blu-ray and DVDs were sold on first day of release.

Analysis:
Snapchat is a crossed app which is available on Android and Apple devices.
Snapchats target audience is 12-19 year olds. The aim of Snapchat is to take a picture and then given the options of filters and time. Then you choose an amount of seconds you want people to see your snaps from 1-10 seconds.
You can also take 1-10 second videos as well as photo’s and you can upload the photo/video onto your ‘story’ which can be screenshotted and viewed by all your friends on Snapchat.
Although it is one of the most popular app’s of 2014 some people do not like Snapchat since people can send nudes and then the receiver can screenshot the nude knowing it’ll notify the sender but the receiver can exploit the photo to other people which is a criminal offense and can cause a lot of hassle and sometimes court cases.
The benefits of Snapchat are that It’s free and only runs on data on your mobile.

DSLR is a camera which can have different lenses put on, have special effects such as ‘blurring’ ‘focus’ and ‘night & day mode’.

Analysis: Compressing lets you reduce the overall number of bits and bytes in a file so it can be transmitted faster over slower Internet connections, or take up less space on a disk.

Analysis: Streaming movies & TV shows may vary from computer to computer and device to device.
Steaming as been used in a beneficial way for users from being able to use their mobile device to transfer the app onto their TV over Wifi.

The data transfer rate (DTR) is the amount of digital data that is moved from one place to another in a given time.
In computers, data transfer is often measured in bytes per second.

Analysis:
‘Theater ‘mode & ‘Full screen’ mode is used in Youtube and is helpful for those with bad eyes or want a gathering amount of people to view the video,

Analysis:
A kilobyte (KB) is 1024 bytes; a megabyte (MB) is 1024 kilobytes and so on as these tables demonstrate.
A byte is a sequence of 8 bits, A single letter or character would use one byte of memory (8 bits), two characters would use two bytes (16 bits)
Helps know what size your file will b saved as.

Analysis:
There are about 20,000 other applications on Mac and Windows that use QuickTime.
Accessible to everyone. It houses a variety of plugs-in or adds-on. Supported media file types, formats as well as compatibility.

Digital rights management (DRM) is a systematic approach to copyright protection for digital media. The purpose of DRM is to prevent unauthorized redistribution of digital media and restrict the ways consumers can copy content they've purchased.
